Here’s a random dabble of mom’s last moments in Ajaccio.
First here are some photos of my flat. We added a nice touch of pink and white tulips (before mom arrived they were yellow)
The kitchen, a little blurry
Hallway looking down to my room
I suggested one day we move the table in Thom’s room in front of the window – a very nice improvement!
Mom also moved a table that was outside into my room – also a very nice improvement as now I have somewhere to sit and do things other than on my bed!
Here is recycling city. It may not appear so in this photo but these bins are bigger than humans and when you go in to deposit your recycling it feels somewhat like you are in a mini city!

The café culture is something else in Ajaccio. It’s quite nice though seeing the people in the cafés and being one of those people in the cafés too.
The cathedral in Ajaccio – Genoese influence. It was closed for a longer than usual lunch. Three hours I think!
The restaurant mom and I ate at the first night – including weird waiter with strangely long neck
A typical restaurant with seafood stand and urchin remains (no I did not photograph the remains)
An attempt at a photo of mom and I in a mirror but instead we got this freaky head!
Mimosa and a poinsettia on a windowsill in the old town
Beautiful and ornate doors
Then we went to Café Napoleon for a café – mom’s first espresso experience! Here is a maeve creative photo…
Mom and her espresso
Then we went to the library – it’s beautiful and old and has a fabulous entrance with lions guarding the front entrance and a grand spiral marble staircase!
And this is their rare book collection. There used to be an exhibition here about the collection and the history of the library but it’s gone. A shame. However they also give talks here about interesting things I just found out… however in French thus hard to follow
Then we went to Monoprix bought some supplies and went to Place de Gaulle to relax and watch the world pass. Here are some photos of people in Place de Gaulle enjoying the sunlight
check out the cute little girl behind the old ladies – but I wanted to photograph the ladies too!
And then on our way home we saw Margot! :)
Here’s a cute passage from Cours Napoleon to Rue Fesch, which in tourist season has a restaurant called something like Chez Maman, but it’s closed now. However a very pleasant place to pass through while taking a promenade in the city
Then we ended up in a bookstore where we took this photo of the Place de Foch Napoleon fountain through the window
On our way home again we saw this humorous sign warning us about the mean dog
Some weird plant growing in a tree
And then we headed home. That night Margot was taking a nap on a chair in the neighbouring bar! Cute! So we didn’t get to visit her or take a photo.
And then we left Ajaccio!!!! (the next morning anyway)
